Porthmadog is a Retained Duty System (RDS) station.
RDS firefighters are skilled individuals who do ordinary jobs and offer evening, daytime and/or weekend cover.

East Pen y Gwryd
South Trwyn y Garnedd Penrhyndeudraeth.

Station history:
Porthmadog's fire crew formed in 1900, and moved to its present site in 1948.
The Station was refurbished in 1963 to house three pumps, and in 2000 further refurbishments were undertaken to accommodate the new Fire Protection department at the rear of the station, which is now the South Gwynedd County Office.
