Posted

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called at 17.57hrs this evening (Wednesday 21st March) to a report of a fire in a residential care home in New Brighton Road, Mold.

Three fire appliances from Deeside and Mold, together with an aerial ladder platform from Wrexham, attended the incident and firefighters rescued three women from the property.

Two casualties, a care worker and a resident, were transferred to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. A relative of the resident was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene of the incident.

The care worker and resident's relative were rescued from a first floor window at the front of the building whilst the third casualty was rescued down an internal stairwell.

Andy Robb from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was confined to the shower room on the first floor which suffered severe damage, with smoke damage throughout the remainder of the first floor of the property.

"Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet in dealing with the incident. The smoke alarms at the property alerted the occupants to the fire, enabling other residents to be evacuated from the property prior to our arrival. The cause of the fire is now under investigation."
