Crews from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have attended a fire in Llanarmon-yn-Ial.

Firefighters were called to the property at Erw Nant at 18.01hrs yesterday evening, Wednesday 25 July, after the alarm was raised by the occupiers.

A 73 year old man was taken to hospital as a result of the incident and has since been transferred to Whiston Hospital for treatment, having sustained burns to his hand.

A woman in her mid 60s was also involved in the incident but she is unharmed.

The cause of the fire was accidental - the man had been carrying out some work in the domestic garage complex where the fire originated.

On arrival, firefighters ensured the safety of the occupants and attended to an acetylene cylinder which was in the affected garage. The fire quickly spread to the single storey bungalow adjacent to the garage and lean-to car port.

Teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hose reel and main jets tackled the fire which was brought under control by 05.50hrs in the early hours of this morning (26th July). The number of appliances in attendance were required to relay water to the incident. At least six appliances sustained damage trying to get to the scene.

The property, which is situated in a remote rural area, has been severely damaged in the incident.

The exact details relating to the cause of the fire are currently being investigated.
