An elderly man has died following a fire at a flat in Kinmel Bay.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of a fire at the property at Plas Foryd, Kinmel Bay at 13.55hrs today (Tuesday 18th January).

Two fire appliances, from Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, were mobilised to the incident. Crews arrived to discover fire damage to the property and the body of an elderly man, believed to be in his 80s, was found inside the flat by firefighters.

Kevin Jones, Head of Community Safety at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family at this difficult time.

“The cause of the fire will be the subject of a joint investigation carried out by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.”
