Update on Storm Darragh - Sunday evening 8.12.24
PostedThe weather situation is continuing to improve this evening across North Wales, however, there is still a yellow weather warning for wind in place across the area until 6pm this evening.
A multi-agency response to clear fallen trees and debris from roads and other public areas has continued throughout the day and staff across all agencies have made great progress in clearing and re-opening roads and the rail network.
Approximately 8,000 properties remain without electric at this time. Please contact 105 if you need assistance and are vulnerable without power to your home. Engineers are out across the area working to bring the power back as soon as possible.
We would like to remind the public to still take care whilst out and about this evening as there is a risk of falling trees and roof tiles, which may have been affected by the storm.
Superintendent Alwyn Williams said “Although great progress has been made today in the recovery operation of the storm, we are aware that many people are still without power in their homes this evening. I would urge you to look out for any vulnerable neighbours or family that you are aware of who are without power and report this on 105.
“Please check the SP Energy Website for an estimate time of restoration of power in your area. Power Cut in Your Area? - SP Energy Networks
“I would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst all agencies are doing their best to bring the situation back to normal.
“I would also like to thank all the staff from all agencies that are still out working to help with the recovery of the storm today. Whilst the situation is improving homes are still without power across North Wales and flood alerts and warnings are still in place at the moment in the East area.”
