Conwy Pupils Shine in Fire Service Colouring Competition
PostedFire Officers from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service recently visited Ysgol T Gwynn Jones, Old Colwyn and Ysgol Glan Morfa, Abergele to present the runners up of a bonfire poster colouring competition with their prizes.
Thomas Dantith from Ysgol T Gwynn Jones was awarded the second prize and Osian James Morgan from Ysgol Glan Morfa was awarded with the joint third prize.
They were selected from over 300 entries from youngsters across North Wales. The competition involved colouring in bonfire posters, produced by the Fire and Rescue Service, which included the message 'Never play with fire'.
Thomas and Osian were presented with Argos vouchers and the school were given a talk on fire safety during the assembly.
Tom Pye from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who presented the voucher, said: "We are pleased that Ysgol T Gwynn Jones and Ysgol Glan Morfa as well as other schools across the region took time to participate in the bonfire competition. The purpose of such a competition is for youngsters to learn about fire safety in an enjoyable way - we then hope that they retain the safety messages for the future."
