Pen Barras Pupil Shines in Fire Service Colouring Competition
PostedFire Officers from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service recently visited Ysgol Pen Barras, Ruthin to present the runner up of a bonfire poster colouring competition with her prize.
Sali Rees Hughes was awarded with the joint third prize after her handiwork was selected from over 300 entries from youngsters across North Wales. The competition involved colouring in bonfire posters, produced by the Fire and Rescue Service, which included the message 'Never play with fire'.
Sali was presented with Argos vouchers and the school were given a talk on fire safety during the assembly.
Tom Pye from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who presented the voucher, said: "We are pleased that Ysgol Pen Barras as well as other schools across the region took time to participate in the bonfire competition. The purpose of such a competition is for youngsters to learn about fire safety in an enjoyable way - we then hope that they retain the safety messages for the future."
