Fatal fire in Prestatyn - further updates available on the North Wales Police website
PostedFirefighters from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire in a property in Maes y Groes, Prestatyn at 10pm on Friday 19th October 2012.
Two fire crews from Rhyl and a crew from Prestatyn attended the incident and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property using hose reel water jets to extinguish the fire and carry out a search for any casualties.
On entering the property the crews recovered five people who were transferred to hospital by paramedics. A 20 year female and two children, a boy aged four and a girl aged two, were subsequently pronounced dead. A 23 year old male and a 15 month old baby boy have since been transferred to specialist hospitals for treatment.
A joint investigation is now being carried out into the cause of the fire by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.
North Wales Police have arrested two people in connection with the incident.
