Update on severe weather in Gwynedd – Police warn inconsiderate motorists.
PostedThe Multi Agency response to the severe weather conditions currently affecting the A55 Dual carriageway at Bangor is being hampered by the actions of some inconsiderate motorists.
North Wales Police are concerned that some motorists are ignoring unattended Road Diversion signs on parts of the A5, A55 and A470 which are not only putting the lives of the motorists at risks but also those of the Emergency Services who are having to divert resources away from priority calls to deal with avoidable incidents.
At this time the A55 remains closed in both directions between Junction 11 at Bangor and Junction 12 Tal y Bont whilst all other primary and secondary routes are open and passable with care. Work has commenced on dispersing excess water from the A55 at this location with the intention of reopening the road as soon as practicable.
North Wales Police are advising motorists to keep off the roads unless the journey is absolutely necessary but if unavoidable to check first with Traffic Wales or local radio or TV, allow plenty of time, take extra care and drive according to the conditions.
