Update 6 - Wednesday 28th November
PostedThe emergency services, Denbighshire County Council and utility services are working to ensure that the levels of flooding are reduced as quickly as possible.
Twenty teams from Scottish Power are currently working with North Wales Police and other partner agencies from the Joint Communications Centre at St Asaph.
Last night two sub stations in St Asaph were shut down to ensure the safety of the public and emergency services working in the area and to maintain supply to other areas of the city. As a result of this a large number of properties were without power and work is currently underway to ensure that this is restored as quickly as possible.
Many people affected who have left the area need to make contact with the rest centre at Ysgol Glan Clwyd or call the Scottish Power helpline on 0845 272 2424 as access may be needed to their property by Scottish Power.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service continues to deploy resources in the St Asaph area in response to the flooding following severe weather conditions in Denbighshire.
Two High Volume Pumps remain in the St Asaph area to relieve the water levels. A High Volume Pump has been brought in from, West Kirby, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, as part of National Resilience arrangements, to relieve the water levels at St Asaph.
A total of eight appliances, including an Incident Response Unit and an Incident Support Unit, are in use in the area.
A continuous assessment of water pumping requirements will be made throughout the day and a close eye will kept on the flood warnings which remain in place.
The main focus remains the preservation of life and keeping the community safe and we will continue work with our multi agency partners to ensure this is maintained. We will work to assist with assessing the long term clear up operation.
Roads are gradually being re opened this morning but members of the public are advised to check first with Traffic Wales or local radio stations before travelling, to take extra care and to drive according to the conditions.
