The body discovered following a fire at a property in Penygroes yesterday (Tuesday 14^th May) has been confirmed as that of a 74 year old woman.

A neighbour, a woman in her mid 40s, was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment for smoke inhalation following the incident yesterday. She had alerted the fire and rescue service when smoke alarms had sounded at the property involved in the fire. The woman left hospital this morning.

Firefighters from Caernarfon were called to the incident at the terraced property at Ffordd Llanllyfni at 15:03hrs yesterday.

The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious and is currently being jointly investigated by North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
