Phoenix fires up the youth of Ynys Mon and Conwy
PostedYoungsters from Ynys Mon and Conwy took part in North Wales Fire and Rescue Service's innovative Phoenix II course recently.
The Phoenix project is a course designed to assist in redirecting the energy of young people towards productive and worthwhile activities that will assist in the integration of the individuals with their peers and their communities.
One course was held at Llanfairfechan Fire Station, with another held at Llangefni Fire Station.
Pam Roberts, Phoenix Coordinator, said: "I am glad to say that both these courses have been great successes for this exciting project.
"The aim of the course is to assist the youngsters in becoming more motivated and positive about themselves, which in turn has the effect of making them better citizens.
"This course follows on from the Phoenix I course and gives the youngsters the opportunity to build leadership skills where they are each given the opportunity to be 'Officer in Charge' of a team exercise.
"We are hoping that these young people will feel that they have gained something positive from the Phoenix project and feel that it will be of benefit to them in the future."
