At 8.40am on Tuesday 17^th May fire crews, North Wales Police, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and two air ambulances were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A5 in Capel Curig.

Tragically, Trystan Rhun Roberts died in the collision. He worked for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service as an apprentice mechanic within the Fleet department in Llandudno Junction.

Simon Smith, Chief Fire Officer, said:"Today our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident, but particularly with the family of the colleague we have lost.

"Our service attends road traffic collisions often and they are always difficult for our staff to deal with, but even more so when they involve a close colleague.

"Support will be offered to anyone in the Service who requires it following this sad event."
