Ruthin nursing home fire

Three elderly people were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation following a fire at a nursing home in Denbighshire on Wednesday evening, 22 February.
Emergency services were called to the Plas Gwyn Nursing Home in Llanychan, Ruthin at 7.55pm after reports of a fire in the building.
Fire appliances from Ruthin, Denbigh and Buckley were mobilised to the incident and firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire.
All residents and staff were quickly accounted for. Three elderly residents were taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan suffering from the effects of smoke, but their condition was not life threatening.
The incident was brought under control by 20.49hrs and residents were able to move back into the building which was declared safe.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it is not believed to be suspicious.
