Appeal to reduce demand following fire in the open in Cwm Y Glo
PostedThe Fire and Rescue Service’s appeal to avoid controlled burning or the burning of rubbish is being highlighted again following a fire in Cwm Y Glo, Gwynedd this afternoon, where a small fire spread to four cars.
Two crews of firefighters from Caernarfon, a crew from Bangor and a crew from Llanberis were called to the incident at 13.00hrs this afternoon.
Mike Owen, Head of Response for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We’re asking farmers and landowners to avoid undertaking controlled burning and residents to avoid burning waste to help to reduce the demand on firefighters and help them to stay safe during this difficult time.
“A small fire can spread so easily – on this occasion it appears an individual was burning rubbish in a container on some wasteland. The fire spread to four nearby vehicles.
“Please don’t put unnecessary extra pressure on North Wales’ services. Let’s work together to fight coronavirus.”
