New Chair Elected for North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority
PostedAnglesey County Councillor Dylan Rees has been appointed as the new Chair of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority at the Annual Meeting which was held on Monday 20th June.
Councillor Rees has been a member of the Fire and Rescue Authority since 2017 and is a former Police Inspector.
On his election to serve as Authority Chair for the next 12 months, Councillor Rees thanked members for putting their trust in him and paid tribute to retiring Chair and Conwy County Borough Councillor Peter Lewis.
He said: “It is a privilege to be elected as Chair and I can assure members that I am fully committed to performing this role to the best of my ability.
“My thanks to Councillor Lewis for his excellent work. I am pleased to be able to build on the foundation he has laid, having previously served as Deputy Chair since 2019.
“I would also like to welcome new and returning members to this meeting, which represents the first meeting since the recent local government elections and I look forward to us working together.”
Councillor Rees has announced that he will be seeking to visit a selection of fire stations over coming months in order to meet staff and learn more about the operational work of the Service.
Flintshire County Councillor Paul Cunningham, a former North Wales firefighter, was voted in as the new Deputy Chair.
On taking on this role, Councillor Cunningham said: “I look forward to working with members in helping to protect the communities of North Wales.”
